[Opening preparations] Commitment to renovating old houses

Hello.

I’m Horinouchi Saori, accommodation Manager.

Today I’d like to introduce some of the things we focused on in preparing for the opening of “THE LAKE Kawaguchiko-kurashi.”

When renovating this 60-year-old traditional house, we kept the beauty of good old Japanese houses, such as sturdy pillars and window frames that are no longer seen today, while creating a modern-looking space with flooring and tiles on the first floor, as well as a Japanese-style room with a hearth where guests can experience the tea ceremony while overlooking the lake. We were particular about creating a space in the traditional house where Japanese and Western styles naturally blend together.

It is a flat, spacious space that can be used as a wedding or event venue for up to 50 people.

We also have a commercial kitchen that can be used by a visiting chef.

The entrance approach, garden plants, second floor window frames, etc. were all DIYed, with everyone working together during their free time from their respective jobs.

In order to create a traditional Japanese home that is by no means luxurious or flashy, but has a nostalgic and warm feel, the owner took his time selecting the furniture, including antique furniture and pieces that have been cherished by the owner’s father over many years, as well as carefully selected antiques from S.H.P. and Victorian Craft, who have been helpful to them, and other sources from within and outside the prefecture.

We hope you will enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of our unique Japanese and British antiques.
