Earlier this September, we had the pleasure of welcoming a family of six from France to THE LAKE Kawaguchiko Kurashi.
They valued art, Japanese culture, and quiet time, making this visit a wonderful example of a “culturally-inspired family stay.”
For us as hosts, it was not only a stay full of learning but also a truly memorable experience.
Here, we’d like to share some of the moments that brought smiles to their faces during their stay.
▪︎ Dining Experience in Japan
The family requested to enjoy authentic kaiseki cuisine.
As our private chef was unavailable that evening, we recommended Seafood Restaurant Akasaka, a local favorite near Kawaguchiko Station.
Since the location can be a little difficult to find, the owner personally drove them to the restaurant.
They greatly enjoyed the seasonal dishes that reflect the beauty of Japan’s four seasons, and their happy smiles left a strong impression on us.
Here is part of the feedback they shared:
« Merci mille fois pour le restaurant Akasaka, ce fut un moment incroyable, nous nous sommes tous régalés. Quelle qualité !!! »
“Thank you so much for the recommendation of Restaurant Akasaka. It was an incredible experience — our whole family was delighted. Such wonderful quality!”
▪︎ Relaxing in the Onsen
During their stay, the family also enjoyed the onsen at our neighboring Ashiwada Hotel, using the complimentary tickets we provide to our guests.
(When the hotel is closed or fully booked, we guide guests to other nearby onsen facilities.)

They shared with us:
« Nous avons également profité de l’onsen. Un vrai délice pour le corps et l’esprit. »
“We also enjoyed the onsen. It was pure delight for both body and mind.”
They also commented on how comfortable the loungewear felt after the bath and asked if they could purchase some to take back to France.
We were delighted to know that the onsen and the loungewear together created a truly special memory for them.
▪︎ Refreshing the Body and Mind – Massage Experience
The family also experienced massage treatments during their stay.
Afterwards, they smiled and said, “We feel so refreshed.”
At THE LAKE Kawaguchiko Kurashi, we can recommend local massage services as well as arrange English-friendly in-room massage treatments.
This service is especially appreciated by overseas guests, as it allows them to relax without any language concerns.
▪︎ Wearing Memories – Custom Loungewear
The family particularly enjoyed the loungewear provided during their stay and decided to purchase a set.
This loungewear is an order-made piece crafted with Kyoto Triple-Layer Gauze (京三重奏ガーゼ).
The fabric becomes softer and fluffier with every wash, offering long-lasting comfort.
It is designed not only for comfort but also for durability — a piece of Japanese quality that can be cherished for years.

At the family’s request, we will be sending the set to France after their stay.
We are honored that this “wearable memory” will accompany them back home.
▪︎ Encounter with Antiques
Before checking out, we gifted the family a small antique plate and soba cup.
The mother showed great interest in the furniture and architecture of our property, telling us with a smile, “This is so fascinating.”
We hope that these small antiques will serve as a reminder of their time here at Kawaguchiko.
▪︎ An Eye for Japanese Culture
The father kindly showed us photos he had taken of Japanese paintings at a museum in Matsumoto, reflecting his deep appreciation for Japanese culture.
As a mindfulness instructor, his respect for silence and stillness resonated strongly with our concept of offering “not just a stay, but a way to experience the lifestyle of Kawaguchiko.”
The smiles and warmth of this family became precious memories for us as well.
At THE LAKE Kawaguchiko Kurashi, we will continue to value cultural experiences and heartfelt hospitality, offering every guest a stay that feels like living the Kawaguchiko lifestyle, not just visiting.
